Asthma is a common non-infectious disease that can cause breathing difficulties.
During an asthma attack, the breathing (bronchial) tubes narrow.
Symptoms include wheezing and shortness of breath.
Symptoms of asthma can be treated using medication taken using an inhaler.
Risk factors for asthma include air pollution, smoking, low birth weight, having an allergy, and family history.
