Show transcript
Microorganisms and detritivores (detritus feeders) are responsible for the decomposition of plant and animal material. Decay is needed to keep nutrients cycling around an ecosystem. Compost is made out of decomposed plant and animal material. Biogas is produced when waste material is anaerobically digested. Biogas contains methane which can be harvested and used as a fuel.
