When writing an essay you should aim to write in a formal style as it can help to elevate your ideas. Your essay should have a clear line of argument and be well structured. An effective introduction will be focused, offer a clear thesis and link to main ideas in the question. A strong comparative paragraph will clearly compare two poems using precise vocabulary and discourse markers. A strong response will embed quotations smoothly and analyse language and structure, explaining their effects clearly.
