Show transcript
Armitage’s ‘Transmission Report’ was commissioned by the BBC to celebrate their 100th anniversary. Armitage wrote ‘Transmission Report’ from the perspective of someone in outer space choosing to tune into the BBC. Armitage suggests that, when reading a poem silently, you should highlight the five words that stand out to you. In doing so, Armitage states that it will help you remember/realise how intentional language choices are. When reading a poem aloud, Armitage says that you should honour the language and the line breaks.
