I can recognise the difference between a question and a command.

There are four types of simple sentence. Each type of simple sentence has a different purpose for the reader. Any simple sentence is a sentence about one idea that makes complete sense. A question is a simple sentence that asks the reader for an answer and ends with a question mark. A command is a simple sentence that tells someone to do something and can end with an exclamation mark.
