Key information can be used to make predictions and draw conclusions before you read a text. Skimming and scanning can be a useful strategy for finding the key points, particularly when reading archaic texts. Understanding the gist of a text means being able to succinctly explain what it is about. inference is about looking at texts and coming up with interpretations using clues or evidence
