Analysing comparative imagery can offer a rich textual analysis. Arguably, similes and metaphors are conceptually different. The comparative imagery throughout ‘Mother, Diving’ could show how the mother has found freedom. The comparative imagery could also represent the mother subverting maternal stereotypes.
