I can use verbs like ‘entendre’ in the present tense singular to communicate with a penfriend.

Open [eu/œu] is pronounced as in 'cœur'. Closed [eu] is pronounced as in 'deux'. 'Répondre' is followed by the preposition 'à' in French, 'dépendre' is always followed by 'de'. ‘Entendre’ is an -re verb. Verbs like ‘entendre’ follow the same pattern as verbs like ‘prendre’ in the singular forms.
