I can use the verb 'aller' to describe places I go to and am going to go to.

[ain/in] sounds like 'train'. [aim/im] sounds like 'faim'. These sound-symbol correspondences have the same sound.
'Aller' means to go/going, an irregular verb used with infinitives to give future plans.
To make two-verb structures negative, put ne … pas around the first (conjugated) verb in the sentence.
To make double verbs negative, put 'ne ... pas' around the first (conjugated) verb in the sentence.
Prepositions for 'in/to' with places vary for the type of place, the gender and whether it is singular or plural.
