[en/an] sounds like ‘enfant’. Every noun has a gender: masculine or feminine. To say 'the', use 'le' for masculine and 'la' for feminine nouns. ‘Anglais’ and ‘français’ are also nouns meaning languages. We use an article with languages except after 'parler/en'.
