Show transcript
'Après avoir' is used with a past participle to translate the English 'after doing' something.
If the verb takes 'être' in the perfect tense, use 'après être' instead of 'après avoir'.
When the verb used takes 'être' in the perfect tense, the past participle must agree with the subject of the sentence.
Reflexive verbs place the reflexive pronoun in front of 'être'.
