Show transcript
In French the letter 'c' is naturally soft before the letters 'e' or 'i' and hard before the letters 'a', 'o' or 'u'. The SSC [ç/c] is pronounced as in 'centre' and 'français'. The cedilla 'ç' softens the hard 'c' before 'a', 'o' or 'u'. The verb 'faire' means both 'to do' and 'to make'. 'I do/make' is 'je fais'. 'You do/make' is 'tu fais'. 'He does/makes' is 'il fait'. 'She does/makes' is 'elle fait'. 'Faire' can be used with a range of nouns to express different activities, e.g. 'faire la cuisine' (to do the cooking).
