We use the verb 'avoir' ('to have') when saying ages in French, e.g. 'j’ai neuf ans'. 'J'ai' means 'I have', 'je suis' means 'I am'. Months of the year are cognates in French and English. In French, adjectives often go after the noun, e.g. 'les yeux bleus'. Adjectives agree in gender and number with the noun they describe (adjective agreement), e.g. 'les cheveux bouclés'.
