Show transcript
Québec is a region of Canada where French is the official language. The sound-symbol correspondence [ai] is pronounced as in 'vrai' (true). Directions in French use capital letters: 'le Nord' (north), 'l'Est' (east), 'le Sud' (south) and 'l'Ouest' (west). The verb aller is irregular: 'je vais' means 'I go', 'il va' means 'he goes' and 'elle va' means 'she goes'.
