The preposition ‘laut’ means 'according to' and is followed by the dative case.
The dative definite articles are: 'dem', 'der', 'dem', 'den'. 'Dies-' follows the same pattern.
The dative indefinite articles are: 'einem', 'einer', 'einem'. Possessives follow the same pattern as these articles.
The preposition 'laut' can be used to report what we have understood from texts, pictures, or from other people.
The sound-symbol correspondence [au], as in 'laut', sounds like 'Haus'.
