Show transcript
The prepositions 'durch, für, gegen, um' are used with the accusative. 'Aus, bei, mit, nach, von, zu' use the dative.
'An, auf, in, über, unter, vor, hinter, neben, zwischen' use the accusative for movement or the dative for no movement.
Knowing the prepositions and their cases ensures that the correct form of definite and indefinite articles is used.
Use da-compounds for inanimate nouns already mentioned, including with verbs taking prepositions.
Use accusative or dative pronouns for animate nouns.
