The SSC [d] often corresponds to an English 't' or 'th' spelling. The SSC [t] often corresponds to English 'd'. Modal verbs require a 2nd verb in the infinitive, placed at the end of the sentence. Some verbs use 'zu' in two-verb structures, e.g., 'Er vergisst, Wasser zu trinken.' A comma separates the verb phrases.
