I can use prepositions with the accusative and dative to describe where people and things are and where they are going in the context of free time.

The prepositions hinter, neben, unter, über, vor, zwischen and in are used with the accusative when there is movement. The prepositions hinter, neben, unter, über, vor, zwischen and in are used with the dative when there is no movement. 'Vor' can mean 'before', 'in front of' or 'ago'. Use da-compounds for inanimate nouns already mentioned. Use direct or indirect object pronouns for animate nouns.
