Show transcript
The preposition 'in' is followed by the accusative case if there is movement, and by the dative if there is no movement. The prepositions 'zu', 'nach' and 'in' can all mean 'to'. 'In das' contracts to 'ins' and 'in dem' contracts to 'im'. 'Zu dem' contracts to 'zum' and 'zu der' contracts to 'zur'. ‘Zu Hause’ means ‘at home’ and ‘nach Hause’ is used for 'going (to) home'. Use wo-compounds to ask questions with prepositions. Wo- becomes wor- before a vowel.
