Show transcript
Baghdad was founded in the early days of Islamic civilisation’s ‘Golden Age’. Islam spread from the Arabian peninsula to the Southern Mediterranean, Middle East and parts of Asia. Islam spread due to strong leadership, military strength, opponents’ weaknesses and tolerance shown to captured cities. The wealth that came from trading networks led to the founding of Baghdad as a new capital for the Abbassid Caliphate.
