I can use place value to explain removing the zero in the ones from a multiple of ten when we divide by 10
Show transcript
Dividing by ten moves all the digits one column to the right making them one tenth times the size.
If you divide a multiple of 10 by ten, the numbers move one place to the right and the zero in the ones disappears.
The zero only disappears if you are dividing a multiple of 10 by ten.
