We use direct object pronouns to avoid repeating nouns. In Spanish they usually go before the verb.
Masculine DOPs are ‘lo’, meaning ‘him' or 'it’, and ‘los’, meaning ‘them’.
Feminine DOPs are ‘la’, meaning ‘her' or 'it’, and ‘las’, meaning ‘them’.
The verbs ‘probar’, ‘costar’ and ‘soler’ are stem changing verbs. When conjugated, their stem changes from 'o' to 'ue'.
