Show transcript
Colombia is a country in the northwest of Latin America; its capital city is Bogotá.
For -ar verbs, the 1st person singular ('I') preterite tense ending is -é, e.g. 'recaudé fondos' - 'I collected money'.
For -ar verbs ending in -car, the 1st person singular ending is -qué and for those ending in -gar, the ending is -gué.
The 1st person plural ('we') ending -amos is the same in the present and preterite tense.
Time adverbs like 'normalmente' ('normally') or 'ayer' ('yesterday') help distinguish between past and present.
