I can understand and retell a brief history of Peru using a range of -ar preterite verbs in the 3rd person singular ('she, he, it') and plural ('they').
Show transcript
Peru is on the west coast of South America; it has a rich history of indigenous cultures and Spanish colonisation.
Atahualpa was the last Inca king. Francisco Pizarro was the Spanish conquistador who invaded Peru in search of gold.
Spanish uses the preterite tense for completed actions. Preterite verb endings change depending on the subject.
To express 'she, he, it' in the preterite, remove -ar and add -ó. This is the 3rd person singular form.
To express 'they' (m,f) in the preterite tense, remove -ar and add -aron. This is the 3rd person plural.
