A range of familiar sound spelling correspondences can be practised in a traditional Peruvian Christmas carol. Singular 'ser' can be used to understand information about Christmas traditions in Peru. 'Estar' can be used to understand where things are and how people feel. 'Porque' can be used to connect ideas between clauses in a sentence. A huayno is a genre of popular music and dance from Peru. 'Niño manuelito' is a Christmas huayno.
