The [j] sound in Spanish is not pronounced the same way in English. In Spanish, it sounds like a harsh [h] sound.
The words for the (definite article) or a/an, (indefinite article) change according to gender unlinke English.
The definite article for masculine nouns is 'el'. The definite article for feminine nouns is 'la'.
The indefinite article for masculine nouns is 'un'. The indefinite article for feminine nouns is 'una'.
