The Spanish vowels are [a] as in 'alto', [o] as in 'yo', [e] as in elefante, [i] as in 'idea' and [u] as in 'universo'. The verb 'ser' is used to describe general traits. Masculine adjectives ending in -o change to -a in the feminine form. In Spanish, you can change a statement into an intonation question by raising your voice at the end.
