We can boost our word knowledge by making connections between words such as word families, synonyms, opposites, etc. To mean 'you' in an informal context, use 'tú'. In a formal context, use 'usted'. It is common to address unfamiliar people as 'usted', for example in commercial settings like a shop or restaurant. The plural form of 'usted' is 'ustedes'.
