Show transcript
Spanish words with final syllable stress ending in -n or -s ('según', 'quizás') need an accent on the last syllable. The verb 'hacer' means 'to do' or 'to make'. We use the preterite tense to describe completed events in the past. The singular forms of 'hacer' in the preterite tense are 'hice' (I did), 'hiciste' (you did) and 'hizo' (she, he did). Spanish uses subject pronouns only for contrast or emphasis: 'yo' (I), 'tú' (you), 'él' (he) and 'ella' (she). 'De' often comes after location adverbs like 'cerca'. 'De' + 'el' becomes 'del' and 'de' + 'la' becomes 'de la'.
