Show transcript
The closing paragraph of a journalistic report provides the reader with information about what is currently happening. A shift to present tense is a key linguistic feature of the closing of a journalistic report. Adverbial complex sentences can be used to tell the reader about two things happening at the same time. Fronted adverbials of time support in communicating the tense shift to the reader and closing the report.
