I can read and understand 'je' and 'tu' -er verbs in the present tense talking about activities at school.

The sound-symbol correspondence [-ez] and 'et', meaning and, sound the same as [é] and [-er]. Verbs in the present tense change ending to match the pronoun: 'je' -e, 'tu' -es. Endings -e and -es sound the same because of the silent final consonant.
