I can distinguish between subject, direct object and indirect object pronouns, and read and respond to a longer text.

The sound-symbol correspondence [ie] is pronounced as in 'Liebe'. The sound-symbol correspondence [ei] is pronounced as in 'frei'. Pronouns replace nouns. Subject pronouns replace the noun doing the action of the verb. After most verbs, use direct object pronouns (accusative case), e.g., 'Ich habe ihn.' After certain verbs or prepositions, indirect object pronouns (dative case) are used, e.g., 'Ich helfe ihm'.
