[l] and [ll] do not sound the same in Spanish. [ll] is pronounced as in ‘calle’. Classifying words by parts of speech is one useful strategy for consolidating vocabulary. Hacer is an irregular verb. The singular forms are ‘hago’, I do/make, ‘haces’, you do/make, ‘hace’, she, he does/makes. We use ‘hace’ to talk about the weather: hace calor/frío/etc. This translates as ‘it is’ in English. Check verbs, nouns and adjectives, word order, little words and idiomacy when translating into Spanish.
