Hair and eyes: singular and plural agreement of adjectives

The [ch] sound in Spanish is the same as the English sound in the word 'chocolate'. In Spanish, nouns for things as well as people and animals are either masculine or feminine. We say they have gender. 'El' and 'la' mean 'the' before a singular noun and 'los' and 'las' mean 'the' before plural nouns. In Spanish, many adjectives follow the noun and agree with the number and gender of the noun they describe. In Spanish, the definite article is used for physical features. In English, we omit these or say 'a' e.g. a small nose.
